Gerrard, Cisse and even McAllister are here.
Every year the legends of Liverpool gather for a charity match. This time around, Anfield enjoyed playing against the legendary Celtic squad.
Just look at Stevie G in the red uniform. Love!
The number of legends per square meter of the field is traditionally over the top.
Here, for example, Dirk Kuyt: he was recently fired from Den Haag in the second division of the Netherlands, here he beats Mikael Lustig – the Swede is 36, he is generally in top shape. Last year he played for AIK, a former footballer only since January.
After Liverpool, Sami Hyypä played at Bayer Leverkusen and even trained a little in Finland, but has retired from football since 2020. And it hasn’t changed at all.
Charlie Adam finished only last season, he is already 37 years old, but at 17 he left for the Rangers and later went to conquer England. The year at Liverpool is considered by many to be unsuccessful, but he gave all his best in all 37 matches – as well as here.
Stiliyan Petrov in Scottish style interfered, it is very pleasant to realize that he is in perfect order: after all, at some point the Bulgarian was diagnosed with leukemia. But he managed.
Remember the story of Robbie Keane? The Irishman played for Liverpool for only half a season, but admitted that he adored the club as a child. The Irishman scored seven goals, quarreled with the coach and went back to his native Tottenham in the winter.
But Robbie is still remembered and loved.
And on both teams! Yes, he also ran for Celtic.
Djibril Cisse is 41 and hasn’t let go of professional football yet. He lives with the dream of returning to Ligue 1 and reaching the 100 goals mark. Four are missing. Perhaps such a freight train will help someone make sure that the forward is in order.
Former RPL players are also in place: Mark Gonzalez even scored. In general, he always comes to charity matches and still communicates well with former partners, although he suffered a myocardial infarction two years ago.
Mark defeated the disease – and now he is happy.
Liverpool legends won 2-0 – one of Steven Gerrard’s goals from the penalty spot.
Martin Skrtel has earned: in general, he still plays among amateurs in his native Slovakia, and he goes to the position of ten, apparently it’s boring in defense. Although training, he admitted, is hard because of a sore back.
Steven’s goal at Anfield is always a celebration.
Gerrard celebrated, by the way, in front of the Celtic fans – they hardly like him, Stevie had just coached the Rangers.
And this retro team was coached by the inimitable Kenny Dalglish.
Here’s Gary McAllister . The bald magician who came to Liverpool at the age of 35 and inspired the team to treble. McAllister is a close friend and assistant to Gerrard, despite the difference of 15 years, but a little earlier, Stephen was afraid that because of the veteran he would sit in the reserve.
