Three years ago, at the age of 16 years, 11 months and five days, Ansu Fati entered the Camp Nou field to make his debut for Barcelona. This is how he remembers that day:
“After my debut match against Betis, Leo Messi was waiting for us in the dressing room to congratulate us on our victory. When I arrived, to my surprise, he hugged me!”
The team’s photographer captured them, and then Leo shared the photo on Instagram.
“After that I got millions of notifications, it was crazy. I will never forget this gesture, I will be eternally grateful to him for it.
“I carefully keep this photo at home, it is with me forever. I remember that Ronaldinho supported him in much the same way in his early days. He did the same with me – it became a source of additional motivation for me.”
There is no doubt that a man like Messi greeting you after your first match would have been a big influence on you. Let’s hope we see them both on the same pitch again.
